Detailed Daily Itinerary for March 2027
Day 1 and 2 – Depart from the United States to Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday March 3, 2027 – Arrive in Auckland on Friday March 5, 2027. Cross the international timeline where we lose a day.
Day 3
Welcome to NZ: Auckland Temple and City Exploration
Arrive in the "City of Sails," drop your bags, and head straight to the harbor for a scenic cruise and views of the famous Auckland Harbor Bridge. Next, we’ll grab a welcome lunch together at the lively Auckland Viaduct. In the afternoon, we head south to visit the beautiful Auckland New Zealand Temple. Afterward, we'll return to the historic Scotia Place chapel to learn about local LDS history at the site where the Southern Hemisphere's first stake was organized. Wrap up your evening exploring the city at your own pace—hit the Sky Tower, check out the local shops, catch the explorer bus, or just unwind at the hotel.
Day 4
Sailing the Bay of Islands by Tall Ship
Head north to Paihia in the Bay of Islands to board the traditional tall ship R. Tucker Thompson for a spectacular private island adventure. You can help the crew or just relax as you cruise the turquoise waters looking for marine wildlife. Enjoy a delicious deck-side barbecue lunch before returning to shore to explore historic Russell, New Zealand’s first permanent European settlement. Walk the heritage streets of this former whaling hub to see landmarks like the bullet-scarred Christ Church, the country's oldest surviving church building.
Day 5
The Waitangi Treaty and Giants of the West
Start Day 2 in Paihia by heading to the hallowed Waitangi Treaty Grounds to learn about New Zealand's founding document. Explore the fascinating museums, carved meeting houses, massive ceremonial war canoes, and lush heritage grounds. Before leaving the coast we will grab a casual lunch in the heart of Paihia and then head inland to the award-winning Kauri Museum at Matakohe to discover the rich pioneering history of the region’s ancient forest giants. Finish the day traveling to the majestic Waipoua Forest, where you'll stand in awe at the feet of Tāne Mahuta, the 2,000-year-old "Lord of the Forest" and New Zealand’s largest living tree. Finally, we will head back to wrap up an incredible day with dinner together at the hotel.
Day 6
Scenic Drive, City Bites, and Sky-High Ice Cream
Get ready for an incredible drive from the Bay of Islands down to the Coromandel Peninsula, soaking in some of New Zealand's most scenic coastal roads. Along the way, we’ll swing into downtown Auckland for a lunch break where you can grab food from a variety of options. If time permits, we’ll make another quick stop in Pōkeno for their famous ice cream piled impossibly high with scoops. From there, we’ll cruise to the spectacular Coromandel coast to the beachside town of Whitianga, arriving just in time to catch a stunning sunset right on the beach and unwind after a long day on the road.
Glass Bottom Boat Cruise and Hot Water Beach
Day 7
Start your day with a morning hike up to Shakespeare Cliff to soak in some incredible panoramic views of the bay. Next, hop on a glass-bottom boat to look down at the amazing marine life inside the protected marine reserve, and stop off for a swim at the famous Cathedral Cove to check out its iconic stone archway. After heading back to Whitianga for a tasty lunch, we will time it perfectly in the afternoon to catch the low tide at Hot Water Beach. Grab a shovel and get ready to dig out your very own natural, geothermal hot water pool right in the sand—it's the perfect mix of coastal adventure and ultimate relaxation!
Coastal Creations & Giant Redwoods
Day 8
Trade the Coromandel's white sands for geothermal wonders as we drive south through the surf town of Whangamatā. We'll start with an awesome tour at the Coromandel Chocolate factory to see how they craft their traditional bean-to-bar treats, pausing afterward to check out some master local pottery. After cruising past the scenic Mount Maunganui coastline, we’ll settle into our accommodations in Rotorua before exploring the majestic Rotorua Redwoods. Once the sun sets, we'll finish the day with an enchanting Tree Walk to see the forest beautifully illuminated by magical suspended lanterns.
Day 10
Kiwi Conservation, Thunderous Falls and Geothermal Fire
We’ll start the morning with a visit to the National Kiwi Hatchery to see New Zealand's iconic national bird up close. Next, we head south to Taupo for an exhilarating jet boat ride right up to the roaring Huka Falls. After the thrill, we’ll grab a relaxed lunch right along the edge of magnificent Lake Taupo to soak in the views. In the afternoon, we will return to Rotorua for a truly refreshing experience at Hell’s Gate, where you can unwind and rejuvenate in their famous natural mud baths and therapeutic mineral pools amidst ancient geothermal wonders.
Day 9
Ziplines, Hobbit Holes, and Hangi Feasts
The morning offers a choice of pace to start your day. You can either seek some thrills while ziplining high atop Rotorua’s forest canopy among massive, 1,000-year-old Rimu trees, or indulge in restorative hot pools and a massage at Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa. Afterward, we’ll head out to the lush pastures of the Shire for an unforgettable Hobbiton Movie Set experience, where you'll explore famous Hobbit Holes and enjoy a delicious lunch right on site. Your day concludes at Te Puia, where you’ll be immersed in Māori culture through powerful traditions, ancient legends, and a traditional buffet-style hāngī dinner.
Day 12
From Temple Views to Alpine Peaks
We’ll start with an early wakeup for the option to attend church by the Auckland temple before catching our flight to Queenstown. Once we land in the "Adventure Capital," we’ll head straight into the city center where you can grab a famous Fergburger or choose from plenty of other great lunch spots. Next, we’ll check into our hotel to drop our bags before heading over to historic Arrowtown for a quick tour of the old gold-mining streets. We'll wrap up the day riding the Skyline Gondola up to the peak for spectacular mountain views, with the option to sit down for a great dinner overlooking the lake. While you're at the top, you can jump into some fun activities like racing down the mountain on the thrilling downhill luge tracks, browsing the local shops, or catching a stargazing tour.
Day 11
Waikato Wonders: From Deep Caves to Temple Heights
Start your morning experiencing Waitomo’s subterranean magic, where you can choose your own adventure: gear up for an action-packed blackwater tubing trip through the rapids, or take a classic walking tour that ends with a silent boat ride under a "galaxy" of glowworms. Afterward, we’ll grab a traditional BBQ buffet lunch and head to Hamilton to check into our hotel. Once we're settled, we will head over to explore the newly renovated LDS community of Temple View. Spend the afternoon immersing yourself in local Latter-day Saint heritage at the Matthew Cowley Pacific Church History Centre, strolling through the boardwalks at Legacy Park, and reflecting at the landmark Hamilton New Zealand Temple before a restful evening ahead of tomorrow's flight to Queenstown.
Day 13
Milford Sound Majesty
Get ready for an epic journey deep into the heart of Fiordland to cruise the legendary Milford Sound, often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Our adventure kicks off with a stunningly scenic drive along the Milford Road, where we’ll pass through the massive, glacier-carved Eglinton Valley and make plenty of photo stops along the way. Once we arrive at the sound, we’ll board our catamaran and head out onto the glassy water to cruise directly beneath the towering Mitre Peak. As you watch for fur seals, dolphins, and cascading waterfalls bouncing off the sheer cliffs, you'll get to sit back and enjoy a delicious lunch provided right on board the boat. After our cruise wraps up, we’ll head back to Queenstown together on the bus, letting you relax, swap photos, and soak in the beautiful alpine scenery on the ride home.
Day 14
The Ultimate Queenstown Day: Bucket-List Thrills and Walter Peak Farm
Spend a free morning in Queenstown tackling bucket-list thrills like bungy jumping, jet boat ride on the Dart river, Helicopter sightseeing, ziplining, or riding the luge. After an adrenaline-fueled start, grab another world-famous Fergburger or browse the local shops at your own pace. To conclude your journey, cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm for an incredible and authentic gourmet BBQ buffet and authentic farm show—the perfect final farewell to your New Zealand adventure.
Day 15
Queenstown Airport and Homeward Bound
Enjoy a final cooked hotel breakfast and soak in the crisp mountain air in this stunning alpine playground. After reflecting on your journey, we’ll head to Queenstown Airport for our flights to Auckland and onward home, carrying a lifetime of New Zealand memories.

Payment Terms: Full payment is due 120 days before the trip and must be paid by check. A $35 fee applies to any returned checks.

Mobility Requirement: You must be able to walk without any problems; the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Documentation: Passports are required and must be valid for at least 6 months after your final trip date, with at least 4 blank pages. Obtaining necessary visas is the sole responsibility of the traveler.

Itinerary Changes: Preston Pathway Tours reserves the right to modify the itinerary, including hotels or transport, due to weather, local conditions, or unforeseen events without prior notice.

Minimum Participants: Tours are subject to cancellation if minimum numbers are not met. In this event, a full refund of payments made to us will be issued.

Price Increases: Prices are based on current exchange rates and fuel costs. We reserve the right to adjust the tour price in the event of significant fluctuations before final payment.
