Day 6

Coastal Crossings and Sacred Sights

Embark on a scenic drive from the Bay of Islands to the Coromandel Peninsula, stopping for a group photo at the Auckland NZ Temple  overlooking Manukau Harbor. Afterward, enjoy a famous multi-scoop ice cream in Pōkeno before completing our journey to the beachside town of Whitianga. End your longest travel day with a relaxing evening by the Pacific.

Day 8

Coastal Creations & Giant Redwoods

Trade the Coromandel's white sands for geothermal wonders as we drive south through the surf town of Whangamatā, pausing for local chocolate and master pottery. After passing the scenic Bay of Plenty coastline, we’ll settle into our accommodation in Rotorua before exploring the majestic Rotorua Redwoods.  After the sun sets, enjoy an enchanting Tree Walk to see the forest illuminated by magical suspended lanterns.

Day 10

Majestic Taupō & Huka Falls

Experience the raw power of the Lady Knox Geyser at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland before heading to Huka Falls for an exhilarating jet boat ride. After the thrill, return to Rotorua to unwind at Hell’s Gate, where you’ll indulge in a rejuvenating mud bath and mineral pool soak amidst ancient geothermal wonders. End your day with a serene dinner at your own pace, enjoying the local flavours before settling in for the night.

Day 12

Return to Auckland for flights to South Island

Depart Hamilton for a scenic drive through the Waikato before flying to Queenstown, the "Adventure Capital of the World." Nestled against the Remarkables on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, this alpine hub will be your home for three nights. Take the gondola to the peak to enjoy stunning panoramic views of Queenstown from the top, where you can sit down for a meal or race down the mountain on the luge. If time permits, explore the vibrant city centre, stroll the lakefront, and soak in the atmosphere of this world-class resort town.

Day 14

Scenic Southern Alps and  Queenstown

Spend a free morning in Queenstown tackling bucket-list thrills like bungy jumping, jet boat ride on the Dart river, Helicopter sightseeing, ziplining, or riding the luge. After an adrenaline-fueled start, grab a world-famous Fergburger or browse the local shops at your own pace. To conclude your journey, cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High Country Farm for a gourmet BBQ buffet and authentic farm show—the perfect final farewell to your New Zealand adventure.

Detailed Daily Itinerary for March 2027

Day 1 and 2 – Depart from the United States to Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday March 3, 2027 – Arrive in Auckland on Friday March 5, 2027.  Cross the international timeline where we lose a day.   

Day 15

Queenstown Airport and Homeward Bound

Enjoy a final cooked hotel breakfast and soak in the crisp mountain air in this stunning alpine playground. After reflecting on your journey, we’ll head to Queenstown Airport for our flights to Auckland and onward home, carrying a lifetime of New Zealand memories.

Day 3 

Arrive in Auckland and sightseeing the City of Sails

Arrive in the "City of Sails" and drop your bags before heading to Waitematā Harbour for a scenic cruise. Afterward, gather together for a special welcome to New Zealand group lunch at the vibrant Auckland Viaduct. Spend the afternoon immersing yourself in local Latter-day Saint history. We will first visit the historic Auckland CBD chapel, the significant site where the first stake in the entire Southern Hemisphere was organized in May 1958. Afterward, we will head to the beautiful Auckland New Zealand Temple for dedicated time inside the House of the Lord. If you prefer, you can use this free time to ascend the iconic Sky Tower, browse local boutiques, ride the double-decker Auckland city explorer bus, or relax at the hotel before our unforgettable adventure officially begins.

Day 5

Cruise at Sea & Waitangi Treaty

Sail aboard the traditional tall ship R. Tucker Thompson, where you can help the crew or relax as you cruise the turquoise Bay of Islands. Enjoy a deck-side barbecue lunch before returning to shore to explore historic Russell, New Zealand’s first permanent European settlement. Walk the heritage streets of this former whaling hub to see landmarks like the bullet-scarred Christ Church, the country's oldest surviving church building. Afterward, head across the water to explore the hallowed Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Discover powerful stories of New Zealand’s birth among carved meeting houses and giant ceremonial war canoes. Day 7

Movie Magic & The Coromandel Coast

Explore the Coromandel Coast starting in Whitianga before boarding a glass-bottom boat to the iconic Cathedral Cove. View the famous stone archway and marine life before heading to Hot Water Beach, where you can dig your own natural geothermal spa in the sand. It’s the perfect blend of cinematic magic and seaside relaxation.

Day 9

From the Shire to the Spirit of Te Puia

Start your morning wandering the lush pastures of the Shire at the Hobbiton Movie Set, where you'll explore famous Hobbit Holes before journeying to the National Kiwi Hatchery to witness vital conservation work and enjoy a relaxing lunch. The afternoon offers a choice of pace, allowing you to either thrill-seek while ziplining atop Rotorua’s forest canopy or indulge in restorative hot pools and a massage at Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa. Your day concludes at Te Puia, where you’ll be immersed in Māori culture through powerful traditions, ancient legends, and a traditional buffet-style hāngī.

Day 11

Waikato Wonders: From Deep Caves to Temple Heights

Start your morning experiencing Waitomo’s subterranean magic with a silent boat ride under a "galaxy" of glowworms, followed by a traditional BBQ buffet lunch. Afterward, travel to Hamilton to spend the afternoon exploring the beautifully reconstructed and vibrant community of Temple View. Immerse yourself in local Latter-day Saint heritage at the historic Matthew Cowley Pacific Church History Centre, and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the newly developed Legacy Park featuring its beautiful boardwalks and historic displays. Conclude your afternoon reflecting at the landmark Hamilton New Zealand Temple before checking into your Hamilton accommodation for a restful evening, concluding your North Island journey before tomorrow's flight to Queenstown.

Day 13

Milford Sound Majesty

Journey into Fiordland to cruise the "Eighth Wonder of the World," Milford Sound. After a scenic drive through the Eglinton Valley, sail beneath Mitre Peak to witness colossal waterfalls and local wildlife while enjoying lunch on board. Cap off the experience with an optional scenic flight back to Queenstown for an aerial view of the Southern Alps, bypassing the 4.5-hour return drive.

Day 4

Giants of the West and Bay of Islands

Today, we head north from Auckland toward the wild West Coast to visit the award-winning Kauri Museum at Matakohe, where you’ll discover the fascinating history of the region’s ancient giants. Afterward, we continue to the majestic Waipoua Forest to be humbled at the feet of Tāne Mahuta, the "Lord of the Forest"—a 2,000-year-old giant Kauri that stands as New Zealand’s largest living tree. After breathing in the crisp forest air, we’ll cross over to the vibrant Bay of Islands and settle into our seaside accommodations in Paihia for the next two nights.

  • Dinners and lunches not included on itinerary, mid-day snacks, allowing you the freedom to choose between local cafes or quick bites.

  • Beverages: Alcoholic drinks, sodas, and specialty coffees, which are typically charged separately from included meals.

  • Gratuities: Personal tip for bus driver.  Tipping is not customary in New Zealand, however, in some instances they are appreciated for exceptional service.

  • Personal Discoveries: Fees for any activities on free days and elective shopping or souvenirs.

  • Hotel Services: Laundry services, phone calls, or room service charges at your accommodations.

  • Travel Documents: The NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) and the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), which must be secured before arrival.  Link: NZeTA Online Form

Fine Print

  • Non-Refundable Policy: Tour deposit and final payment are non-refundable and non-transferable once paid. No exceptions.

  • Payment Terms: Full payment is due 120 days before the trip and must be paid by check. A $35 fee applies to any returned checks.

  • Mobility Requirement: You must be able to walk without any problems; the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

  • Documentation: Passports are required and must be valid for at least 6 months after your final trip date, with at least 4 blank pages. Obtaining necessary visas is the sole responsibility of the traveler.

  • Itinerary Changes: Preston Pathway Tours reserves the right to modify the itinerary, including hotels or transport, due to weather, local conditions, or unforeseen events without prior notice.

  • Liability: Preston Pathway Tours acts only as an agent for suppliers and is not responsible for acts of God, theft, strikes, or failures of third-party vendors (airlines, hotels, etc.). Baggage is the sole responsibility of the owner.

  • Conduct: We reserve the right to remove any passenger whose conduct is incompatible with the interests of the group. No refund will be given in such cases.

  • Minimum Participants: Tours are subject to cancellation if minimum numbers are not met. In this event, a full refund of payments made to us will be issued.

  • Price Increases: Prices are based on current exchange rates and fuel costs. We reserve the right to adjust the tour price in the event of significant fluctuations before final payment.

  • Media Release: Photos or videos taken by tour leaders during the trip may be used by Preston Pathway Tours for promotional purposes.
